Reserved for V – I see these centurion signets in onyx quite regularly as they are very popular. It is much more unusual to come across a carnelian version and so this substantial signet was love at first sight for me. The oval stone is 13mm by 11mm. with the overall setting being 16mm at the widest point. Inside the shank is a sponsor or makers mark of EWN for Eric Wallace Nicholls. Alongside this is a full hallmark for 9ct gold, having been assayed in Birmingham in 1962.
The weight is 5.45g.
